Oslo City Bike is developed and operated by Urban Infrastructure Partner AS (UIP), in cooperation with Oslo Municipality. To start using the bikes, you must buy a subscription, and register with a valid telephone number and have a payment card on file. The service works as described as described in About Oslo City Bike. By this, you enter into an agreement with UIP which is subject to the following terms and conditions for purchase, use and privacy:
1.1 Oslo City Bike offers bicycles for personal use in Oslo. The bikes are available in city bike stations at various locations in the city and are to be placed back in such a station at the end of the trip. Overview of available stations can be found on the Oslo City Bike website and in the system app (available for iPhone and Android).
1.2 To access the city bike system, you must register a phone number, and other information required at any time, an active payment card and purchase a valid product.
1.3 Registration and purchase are to be made on our website or in our app. You can also activate a product by redeeming a value code.
1.4 A product provides full access to the service during the products period. The type of products that are available for sale, including different prices and duration, may vary.
1.5 An active product allows users to unlock bikes using the app or on the display at the stations.
1.6 You can always return a bike, even when the system is closed for borrowing bikes.
1.7 You may terminate the use of the service at any time and delete your registered personal information.
1.8 Oslo City Bike will give you the opportunity to use the Oslo City Bike app and the stations to find and use a city bike if there are any available. All accessibility can be found in the City Bike app. As there is a limited number of bicycles, Oslo City Bike cannot guarantee that there is a bike within a distance that is convenient for you or that you will find a city bike at all.
2.1 You and Oslo City bike are the only parties to this agreement. You are the sole user of the service. For this reason, you should not lend the city bike, user account or personal code to others. If you lose/have your mobile phone or credit card stolen, or enter the wrong personal code when you try to unlock a bike you must report it immediately to firstname.lastname@example.org.
3.1 You must be 15 years or older to use Oslo City Bike. If you are under 18, you must have written authorization from a guardian.
3.2 The products are personal and cannot be transferred or resold. This includes sharing login details for the app, or sharing unlock codes for use on the display screens at stations.
3.3 You can only have one active product at a time.
3.4 You can only be logged in to one app/unit at a time.
3.5 You can only take one bike at a time.
3.6 You can have the bike for the numbers of minutes that apply to your product before you have to deliver it to a station. If you choose to use the bike for a longer period you will be charged for the overused period in accordance with the terms applicable to the product you have purchased. You will receive an SMS with a reminder 5 minutes before we start withdrawing you. If you abuse the service, UIP can terminate your access permanently.
3.7 The city bikes cannot be used outside specified areas, in the forest or off regular roads.
3.8 Subscriptions do not allow access to city bike services in other cities, unless otherwise stated when purchased or when you received a value code.
3.9 The construction season and opening hours are specified on the About Oslo City Bike page on the website.
3.10 The facility may close in whole or in part at short notice, for example due to weather/road conditions or special events in the city.
4.1 You are responsible for entering and updating the information related to your profile.
4.2 The bikes are put out in good condition and are frequently controlled and maintained, but it may still be possible to find a defective bike in the station. You are personally responsible to check if the bike is in proper condition before you use it. Oslo City Bike is not responsible for damage that occurs due to a defective bike that you intentionally or negligently use. We ask you to contact us through the app, Facebook messenger or email email@example.com if you discover major damage to the bike you have just checked out.
4.3 You must perform a basic safety check of the city bike before using it. This is done with a visual check of the functionality of the brakes. Do not use the vehicle if there are any noticeable problems (such as visible damage to wheels, brakes, lights or frame.) If you discover such problems with the bike, do not use it. Report the damage via the app. Then you help every city bike user.
4.4 You are responsible for assessing whether there are good enough conditions for biking and complying with the traffic rules, and you are also personally responsible if you injure yourself or others when using the city bike.
4.5 You shall not use a bike under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication or other drugs that may impair your ability to use the bike safely.
4.6 You are responsible for returning the bike to a station on time.
4.7 If you leave a city bike outside any of our racks, it’s completely at your own risk. If the bike is stolen, we will keep you liable if the bike does not return within 14 days, and you must immediately report the theft to UIP.
4.8 Should anything unforeseen happen, including an accident or loss of a bike, you are obliged to contact UIP as soon as possible.
5.1 You are not allowed to resell your subscription or value code to any third-party. Unless you have a written agreement.
5.2 Any detections of resale of the service will be handled as a violation of terms and UIP will notify that you are banned from further use and any consequences this entails.
6.1 Upon late delivery of the bicycle, you will receive a warning. Warnings are sent via SMS to your phone number and are visible in the app and on the website. If you return the bike late one times, your access to Oslo City Bike will be blocked and you will not be able to unlock bikes or buy new products.
6.2 A warning remains in effect for one year from when it was given before it is automatically reset.
6.3 Contact UIP immediately if you believe you have received an incorrect warning or your subscription has been incorrectly blocked.
7.1 After use, you must return the city bike to one of Oslo City Bike's racks. If the bike is not placed correctly, you are liable if the bike is stolen. You secure the bike by placing the bike’s nose into the rack, and a small RFID-chip will tell the system that the bike is returned. You get a confirmation on the panel by the lock and in the app on your phone, but please take the time to check if the bike is locked properly.
Please assure that you have received a confirmation in the app that the bike is delivered and registered as returned. The app should say: "The bike is returned" together with "Thanks for the ride", the start and ending station, the time you spent on the bike and the name of the bike.
7.2 If the bike gets lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair, and thus is not available for other members to use, you will be held liable. If a lost bike is not returned within 14 days, you will receive an invoice of NOK 5000 to replace the lost bike, even though the bike turns up later. If you are under 18 years of age and have a guardian's authorization to use the city bikes, the guardian will be liable for the payment.
7.3 If you are under 18 years of age, the guardian is liable for damages.
8.1 Oslo City Bike reserves the right to charge directly from your credit/debit card when you buy a product, exceed the included rental period or have an active ongoing subscription. Monthly subscription is automatically renewed at the current price.
8.2 You confirm that you are authorized to use the credit or debit card you provide. You authorize that Oslo City Bike may charge the stated credit card, debit card with the fees you have incurred in connection with your use of the service, as described in this agreement.
8.3 Payments to us are made through a third party provider of payment solutions. We are not responsible for the payment process or any costs associated with such third parties.
8.4 To dispute any fees or charges that Oslo City Bike may charge you, you must contact Oslo City Bike within a reasonable time from the date of the disputed fee, and provide Oslo City Bike with all information Oslo City Bike deems necessary.
8.5 Any outstanding payment for the use of a city bike or a fee imposed on the basis of this agreement will be made by us using the payment method described. However, if the payment cannot be made due to circumstances within your control (error on credit card number, change of credit card without notice or the like), Oslo City Bike reserves the right to charge payment cards directly when this information is updated.
9.1 In the event of abuse of the service, UIP may permanently block your access to Oslo City Bike.

Buyer: The one who buys the value code from UIP.
10.1 Per 2020, the value of the value code is NOK 499 for seasonal subscription and NOK 149 for monthly subscription. The value codes can only be used in the current season.
10.2 The Buyer receives a value code by email or SMS after the value code has been paid in full. It is the buyer's responsibility to send or pass the value code to the Receiver.
The Receiver must redeem the code and, if necessary, register as a member of Oslo City Bike on oslobysykkel.no.
10.3 The value code cannot be traded for cash.
10.4 The value code cannot be returned or cancelled after purchase, and the Buyer agrees that this agreement is fulfilled by both parts so that the rules about withdrawal after remote sales of financial services is not applicable. For more information, see Law on Information and Withdrawal after remote sales and sales outside of fixed business premises (Consumer law) (implementing EU Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights) (Chapter 1, Section 2). The Receiver has to agree to our general terms and conditions above.
