Terms and Conditions for Oslo City Bike

  • A city bike subscription is personal.
  • You are responsible for the bike from when you pick it up from a station until you have delivered back to a station.
  • Pay attention and follow traffic rules

Oslo City Bike is developed and operated by Urban Infrastructure Partner AS (UIP), in cooperation with Oslo Municipality. To start using the bikes, you must buy a subscription, and register with a valid telephone number and have a payment card on file. The service works as described as described in About Oslo City Bike. By this, you enter into an agreement with UIP which is subject to the following terms and conditions for purchase, use and privacy:

1. Purchase

1.1 You must be over 18 years of age, or have turned 15 and have authorization from guardians, to use Oslo City Bikes.

1.2 The seasonal subscription is personal and cannot be transferred to others.

1.3 A subscription received as a value code cannot be traded for cash, please see our Value code Terms and Conditions.

1.4 You have the right of withdrawal within 24 hours from the time of purchase. If you have used the citybike within 24 hours, you do not have this right anymore, and you agree that this agreement is fulfilled by both parts. You accept that any additional purchase in Oslo Bysykkel’s app, is binding and can not be withdrawn. 2. Use

2.1 You are responsible to add and update your personal information on your profile.

2.2 You are responsible for biking carefully and for complying to current traffic rules. You are also personally responsible if you inflict damage on yourself or others while using the city bikes.

2.3 You are personally responsible for the city bike. You should therefore not lend your bike to others, or entrust them with your subscription, user account or personal code. If you lose or get your phone stolen, or punch the wrong telephone number when using sms code to unlock a bike, let us know immediately at post@oslobysykkel.no

2.4 The bikes are installed in a good condition and are frequently controlled and maintained, but it may still be possible to find a defect bike in the rack. You are personally responsible to check if the bike is in proper condition before you use it. We ask you to contact us through the app, Facebook or email post@oslobysykkel.no if you discover any faults on the bike you have just checked out. You’ll be of great help for all the city's bikers.

2.5 You can use the city bike for up to 60 minutes, before it has to be returned to a rack. If you choose to use the bike for a longer period you will be charged for the overused period. You will receive an SMS 5 minutes before we start charging. After the included 60 minutes, you will get charged NOK 5 per 15 minutes. If you abuse your subscription, UIP can terminate your subscription permanently.

2.6 The city bikes cannot be used outside specified areas, in the forest or off regular roads.

2.7 If you leave a city bike outside any of our racks, it’s completely at your own risk. If the bike is stolen, we will keep you liable if the bike does not return within 14 days, and you must immediately report the theft to UIP.

2.8 After use, you must return the city bike to one of Oslo City Bike's racks. If the bike is not placed correctly, you are liable if the bike is stolen. You secure the bike by placing the bike’s nose into the rack, and a small RFID-chip will tell the system that the bike is returned. You get a confirmation on the panel by the lock and in the app on your phone, but please take the time to check if the bike is looked properly.

Please assure that you have received a confirmation in the app that the bike is delivered and registered as returned. The app should say: "The bike is returned" together with "Thanks for the ride", the start and ending station, the time you spent on the bike and the name of the bike.

2.9 If the bike gets lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair, and thus is not available for other members to use, you will be held liable. If a lost bike is not returned within 14 days, you will receive an invoice of NOK 7500 to replace the lost bike, even though the bike turns up later. If you are under 18 years of age and have a guardian's authorization to use the city bikes, the guardian will be liable for the payment.

3. Resale

You are not allowed to resell your subscription or value code to any third-party. Unless you have a written agreement.

Any detections of resale of the service this will be handled as a violation of terms and UIP will notify that you are banned from further use and any consequences this entails.

4. Privacy

When you purchase an Oslo City Bike subscription, UIP will process personal data about you. Please see our privacy policy.

Value code Terms and Conditions

Thank you for sharing the joy of biking with someone you care about! Please read our value code terms and conditions carefully before you proceed to payment.

Seller: Urban Infrastructure Partner AS (UIP), org.nr. 914 253 721. The Seller’s main activity is operation of Oslo City Bikes.

Buyer: The one who buys the value code from UIP.

Receiver: The person who redeems the value code. The Receiver must accept terms of use when redeeming the code, including be 18 year of age, or turned 15 and have authorization from guardians.

5.1 Per 2018, the value of the value codes is NOK 399 for seasonal subscription and NOK 49 for 24 hour subscription. The value codes can only be used in the current season.

5.2 The Buyer receives a value code by email or SMS after the value code has been paid in full. It is the buyer's responsibility to send or pass the value code to the Receiver.

5.3 The Receiver must redeem the code and, if necessary, register as a member of Oslo City Bike on oslobysykkel.no.

5.4 The value code cannot be traded for cash.

5.5 The value code cannot be returned or cancelled after purchase, and the Buyer agrees that this agreement is fulfilled by both parts so that the rules about withdrawal after remote sales of financial services is not applicable. The Receiver has to agree to our general terms and conditions above.
